The Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA) targets young adults aged 18-35, focusing on cultivating international talent in internet governance. Statistics show that one in four APIGA alumni actively participates in local, regional, or global internet governance activities.

In 2024, Taiwan became the pioneering location for ICANN’s expanded APIGA pilot program, successfully hosting the first-ever Local APIGA. After the program, outstanding participants were selected to represent Taiwan in Busan, South Korea, for the 8th APIGA and attended the APNIC 58 conference in Wellington, New Zealand, networking with youth, international experts, and scholars worldwide. Inspired by Taiwan's success, similar Local APIGA programs have since been initiated in Nepal, Indonesia, and Australia.

In April 2025, NII Industry Development Association will once again host "Local APIGA—Taiwan," inviting youth aged 18-35 to deeply explore Internet governance and become future leaders in international digital governance.

This event is entirely free, including transportation and accommodation subsidies for participants from Hsinchu and areas southward, as well as Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung. Participants demonstrating outstanding engagement throughout the event will have the opportunity to attend the international APIGA 2025, hosted by ICANN and Korea's KISA.
